When thinking about Disney most people think of Cinderella’s Castle or that adorable picture of the little boy or girl flying on Dumbo. Rarely do people think of Disney as a romantic location. However, it has been (and continues to be) in the top 10 locations for honeymoons. So for those couples who are on their Disneymoon or the parents who are taking a no-kids Disney trip it’s important to find dining options that fit the mood. Here are my top 10 restaurants where you’ll find a nice relaxing romantic dinner in Walt Disney World. (For more information on each restaurant click on the name.)
Jiko – The Cooking Place – At Animal Kingdom Lodge, this restaurant offers African Cuisine and African wine pairings. While dining you will see the amazing two wood burning ovens where your chef will prepare your meal. It will cost you 2 credits on the dining plan but it will be an unforgettable experience. They also request you follow a dress code (no swimsuits or jeans with holes) but you will want to dress a little fancy while dining here.
This restaurant is by far my absolute favorite in all of Disney World. We went for my grandfather’s 80th birthday and it was the best dining experience I’ve ever had. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and willing to answer any question. He gave suggestions on wine pairings and appetizers. We were even offered a taste of a new dish the chef was going to offer on the menu. My husband and I tried to work it into our schedule when we were there for our Honeymoon but we weren’t able to get a reservation so if this one you would like to try (and you most definitely should), plan and book ahead.
Chefs De France – This restaurant is located in the France section of the World Showcase at EPCOT. The front of this restaurant is all glass windows looking out over the World Showcase lagoon. You will enjoy authentic French cuisine such as Soupe à l’oignon, Escargot, or my absolute favorite, Boeuf Bourguignon. While dining here you’ll feel like you’re in the heart of Paris with all the lights and the Eiffel Tower outside the window.
*Fun Fact- All the countries in the World Showcase are staffed by people from that country so you will get a very authentic dining experience when sitting down at any of the restaurants.
Le Cellier Steakhouse – You will find this restaurant in the Canada section of the World Showcase in EPCOT. Hidden from the main path, you will find this “cellar” situated below the rest of the Canada section. This restaurant features traditional Canadian cuisine including fantastic steaks and seafood.
Important! This is one of the most (if not THE most) popular restaurants in all of Disney. This is a restaurants where you WILL have to book 180 days out. Yes, it really is that good.
California Grill – Located at the top of the Contemporary Hotel, this restaurant feature American cuisine. While sitting here you will have a panoramic view of Magic Kingdom. So be sure when booking, to select the time when the fireworks go off. It is truly one of the most magical experiences in all of Disney World.
When my husband proposed to me in Disney World we had reservations that evening at the California Grill. So I might be a little biased and my head might not have been fully invested in the meal ( I was extremely excited ok?) but it was amazing sharing a meal and celebrating while the fireworks went off in the background.
Tiffins – This restaurant is described on the Disney Tourist Blog as “dining in an art gallery, and eating at a high-end, low-key restaurant where globe-trotting Imagineers would themselves dine.” Tiffins is located within Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This is one of Disney’s newest dining options as it just recently opened before the Pandora section of the park was opened.
The Boathouse – One of my favorite restaurants, The Boathouse is located at the new Disney Springs. It is located on the water and with all the windows you will have incredible views any time of the day. This restaurant is known for its seafood options but if you’re like me and don’t enjoy most seafood, the steaks here are absolutely incredible.
True to it’s name, this restaurant has a very nautical theme complete with a bar on the pier overlooking the water. You can also take a boat-car ride on the lake while you’re waiting for your reservation time.
Yachtsman Steakhouse – This restaurant is located at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort at Walt Disney World. This New England inspired cuisine is known for it’s premium steaks (see the name) and fresh seafood but it also features many other options. Here you will see an open-style kitchen.
Victoria and Alberts – Probably the grandest (and definitely the most expensive) restaurants in all of Disney World, you will find Victoria and Alberts at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. This restaurant has been a AAA 5 Diamond Award winning recipient since 2000. There are several dining options and dinner is only served once each night (you can not make a reservation for 5pm and then another one for 7pm). You can select from the 7 course meal or 10 course chef’s tasting meal. The price of this fantastic (and completely one of a kind) restaurant? Meals start at $185/person.
You also have the option of selecting the chef’s table which is located just inside the kitchen. The chef prepares up to 11 different courses for you to try and between each course the chef and sommelier (wine guru) will talk to you.
The last option you have for this restaurant is the Queen Victoria’s room. Here you will learn the history of each course and how the chef and sommelier work together to create the exquisite meal. This room only seats 8 people so if you are interested you will have to plan in advance. ***If you are looking to find a very unique and romantic way to propose to that special someone you might want to look into this option.
Artist Point – This restaurant is located at the Wilderness Resort in Disney World. The dining experience is described as “rugged” because you look out on the nature and water located around the resort. Here you will find dishes like Smokey Portobello Soup and Buffalo Strip Steak (yep, buffalo).
While you won’t be looking at Cinderella’s Castle or dining in France, there is a reason why this restaurant is always on the top lists of places to eat in Disney World. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is unique. This is not a dining experience you’ll want to pass up.
Be Our Guest – Dinner! This is a romantic restaurant at dinner time. You will find Be Our Guest in Magic Kingdom, located in the Beast’s Castle. This restaurant features French cuisine. It closes between lunch and dinner to “transform” into the ballroom you see in the film. You may also even catch a glimpse of the Bell and the Beast while eating. You may think the main ballroom is the place to be, but if you can request it (or if you get very lucky) I recommend the Beast’s room. It’s darker and more unique. Plus who doesn’t want a nice romantic candle light dinner 😉
Would you plan a romantic trip to Disney World? Do any of these restaurants look good to you?
